Remembrance Sunday- It's Not All About the Poppies

As the UK and Ireland commemorate Remembrance Sunday today, a thought came to my mind about my discussion with a friend on the bus on Friday about being remembered.

This topic is of special interest to me as I prepare to return home next year after 2.5 years here in Ireland. The big question is: How will I be remembered?

And I guess that this is the one of those questions that people will ask themselves at some point in their lives... How will I be remembered?

What is the purpose of living anyway, if we all forget the good and bad deeds that were done in this life?

What is the point of having a tombstone with an epitaph on it, of naming things you discovered after yourself, or having a name in itself, if it is not to be remembered?

Everyone knows about Thomas Edison, Socrates, Julius Caesar, TAR, etc, but how many people actually knew who they actually were, and not only what they did? Anyhow, they are still remembered

My point being, that the greatest fear of man is not death, for that is a definite event, but the fear of being forgotten. Everyone wants to be remembered (including myself).

How would you like to be remembered?
